Facebook to hold event next Thursday--likely to announce customized HTC Android phone

9 to 5 Mac announced that Facebook is holding an event Thursday, April 4th during which it will likely announce an iPhone competitor--an phone that it's created in partnership with HTC that runs a customized version of Android. I'm not sure who would want a phone that's so tightly tied to Facebook--the tech company known to be the most liberal with people's personal data--rather than just having the ability to connect to the social network via an app, but perhaps they'll bring some new competitive ideas to the phone space. We'll see on Thursday.
