Amazon set to expand its Appstore to nearly 200 countries

Looks like Jeff Bezos and his crew are expanding the Amazon Appstore into 200 more countries. Having just picked up a refurbished Kindle Fire for my wife's birthday for only $69 via a combined CNET and Best Buy promotion, I have to say that while the Amazon device is not an iPad, it does perform many of the functions my wife needs like checking email, browsing Pinterest, reading books, and playing an occasional game quite well. Plus, since the Amazon Appstore is available to other Android devices like my daughter's Nabi 2, it allows for customers to share apps purchased with the same Amazon account across several devices. This move combined with another recent news story that they bought a company that produces a Siri-like service shows that Amazon continues its slow and steady move to grow as a tech powerhouse.
