How To Work Around The Feedly 'Over Capacity' Bug On iPad

Now that Google Reader has been put out of commission and that Google will erase users' data on July 15th, here's a solid instructional on how to work around the popular replacement Feedly's "over capacity" bug on the iPad.

I'll be writing a summary of all the replacement readers (AOL, Feedly, etc.) soon.

Google’s answer to Apple’s Game Center coming soon

Ars Technica mentions that an exploration of Google's My Glass revealed "a feature list relating to Apple's Game Center."

With plenty of popular game titles making their way over to Android en masse, it's no surprise that Google may be working on its own socially driven multiplayer gaming network. In a recent teardown of My Glass (the Google Glass companion application), Android Police discovered what appears to be a feature list related to a service that could become Google's answer to Apple's Game Center

Amazon set to expand its Appstore to nearly 200 countries

Looks like Jeff Bezos and his crew are expanding the Amazon Appstore into 200 more countries. Having just picked up a refurbished Kindle Fire for my wife's birthday for only $69 via a combined CNET and Best Buy promotion, I have to say that while the Amazon device is not an iPad, it does perform many of the functions my wife needs like checking email, browsing Pinterest, reading books, and playing an occasional game quite well. Plus, since the Amazon Appstore is available to other Android devices like my daughter's Nabi 2, it allows for customers to share apps purchased with the same Amazon account across several devices. This move combined with another recent news story that they bought a company that produces a Siri-like service shows that Amazon continues its slow and steady move to grow as a tech powerhouse.

The First Videos Being Shot With Google Glass

Gizmodo has an article with some of the first video taken with Google Glass that's worth a look. It's interesting to see the ability of Google Glass to catch a person's first person perspective. Perhaps this will eventually be the way to capture video of important moments and family events. Time will tell.

Google Releases Updated YouTube App for Nintendo Wii with Smartphone Control

Google just released an updated version of their YouTube channel for the Nintendo Wii that provides more stability and allows users to pair the Wii channel with their smartphone. By pairing a smartphone with the Wii YouTube channel, a user can essentially use their cell phone as a remote for the Wii, selecting a YouTube video from the phone and have it play on the TV. To get this functionality, follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to the Wii Shop Channel, select Wii Channels, and find and download the YouTube Channel.
  2. Open the now-downloaded YouTube channel
  3. When it loads, select the option to log into your YouTube account
  4. Follow the instructions which ask you to go to http://www.youtube.com/activate and enter a code
  5. Once you enter the code, the Wii's YouTube channel will refresh and now show your YouTube subscriptions, favorites, etc.
  6. Next, to pair the Wii YouTube channel with your cell phone, select the "Pair your Phone" option and follow the instructions to enter the displayed code at http://www.youtube.com/pair
Now enjoy a lot more control of playing videos on your Wii!

Top 5 Apps For Kids This Week

My daughter enjoys waking us up on weekend mornings, crawling into our bed, and then playing either "I Spy" or playing a game with us on my iPad or on her Nabi 2 Android tablet. Because of this somewhat consistent morning ritual, this Mashable article stood out: Top 5 Apps For Kids This Week

Twitter is developing a Google Glass experience

Unsurprisingly, Twitter is reportedly working on an app for Google Glass. It'll be interesting to see how popular Google Glass gets when it's released to the general public. Do we really want people glancing away from us and up into the little screen hovering above their eye to read the latest tweets?

Did Da Vinci Invent Google Glass?

Want to see a great April Fool's article? Mashable's Lance Ulanoff has written a compelling story mixing "interviews" with a touch of hyperbole raising the question of whether Leonardo Da Vinci, the penultimate Renaissance man who painted the Last Supper and has notes and drawings of other major inventions years before their time, also came up with the idea of Google Glass. The included drawing and comments made by "a nuclear physicist who studied Da Vinci" add to the fun. According to the article, Da Vinci's notes include a drawing of a man wearing a device that looks just like Google's new device and the notes indicate this device would display images and texts on a "small box and what almost looked like a monocle" over top of the wearer's view of the world. A Renaissance man invented augmented reality? Incredible. Or, perhaps Da Vinci is actually from the future, used a time machine to travel back to the Renaissance and unfortunately got caught in the past, transcribing notes of all the devices he only wished he had brought with him. ;-)

Should we ban Google Glass while driving?

This article in Time Magazine raises the question of whether wearing Google Glass while driving increases or decreases one's attention to the road. Knowing that it's hard to enforce people to stay off of their cell phones while driving, at least Google Glass would help keep their eyes forward rather than looking down towards their phones on their laps. Could this upcoming technology actually help us keep our eyes on the road? What do you think?
